Unlocking Success in 2024: A Monthly Goal Check-In Guide for Sales Professionals and Business Owners

In the whirlwind of business and life that keeps “life-ing”, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind and lose sight of our goals. But if you're a sales professional or a business owner, staying focused on your objectives is not just important—it's essential. That's why I’m writing this blog as a reminder for us all, me included, that one of the keys to accomplishing our goals is regular check-ins and evaluations.

Why Monthly Goal Check-Ins Matter

2024 is still just beginning and the key to achieving your goals lies in intention and consistent, deliberate action. By checking in on your objectives monthly, you create a feedback loop that allows you to track your progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated throughout the year. To get started, download our Monthly Goal Reflection template.

Why is this practice of checking in and reflecting crucial for success? I’m so glad you asked!

1. Maintaining an Abundance Mindset

Achieving your goals starts with the right mindset. When establishing and reviewing your goals, it's essential to operate from a place of abundance rather than scarcity.

Here's how to do it:

  • Shift from fear to possibility: Instead of fearing what you might lose, focus on what you can gain by achieving your goals.

  • I recommend journaling to put all that goodness you’ll give, and receive, by accomplishing your goals down on paper.

  • Celebrate your wins: Embrace a culture of celebrating small victories along the way, reinforcing a sense of abundance.

  • Collaborate with folks that can help you grow and see things from a different perspective.  As they say, “If you find yourself being the smartest person in the room, it’s time to find a new room.”

2. The Importance of Redefining Your WHY

Our WHY can change, so it’s important to reflect and be confident you know your WHY.  It is the driving force behind your goals. It's the motivation that fuels your intention and actions.

As the year progresses, take time to revisit and refine your WHY:

  • Reflect on your values: Ensure your goals align with your core values and principles.

  • Connect emotionally: Emotionally charged WHYs are more likely to keep you committed, even when faced with challenges.

  • Share your WHY:  Vulnerability invites vulnerability which means deeper connections and relationships with your clients, partners, and team.

3. Establishing Abundance Goals Across All Areas of Life

While business and sales goals are essential, don't neglect the broader aspects of your life. A holistic approach can lead to greater fulfillment and balance.

Consider setting abundance goals in these areas:

  • Health and Wellness: Prioritize self-care, nutrition, and fitness goals.

  • Legacy: Think about the legacy you want to leave behind, both personally and professionally.

  • Skills Development: Continuously invest in learning and personal growth.

  • Spiritual: Cultivate your inner self, whether through meditation, mindfulness, or faith.

  • Financial Health and Wellness: Set goals for saving, investing, and financial independence.

  • Relationships: Strengthen connections with family, friends, and colleagues.

The Ripple Effect on Business and Sales Growth

Interestingly, when you prioritize abundance goals in your personal life, you'll likely see a positive ripple effect in your business and sales growth objectives. A healthy, balanced, and motivated individual is better equipped to tackle professional challenges.

By creating alignment between your personal and professional goals, you'll experience increased clarity, resilience, and energy. This holistic approach can help you make more strategic decisions, form deeper connections with clients and team members, and ultimately drive your business toward success.

Now that you’ve defined goals for all areas of your life, review your sales and business growth goals.  Do they need any adjusting?
